Alex Bruce
Whisky is in Alex’s blood. His mother, an Usher, is a direct descendant of Andrew Usher who is credited with pioneering blended whisky, and his father, Lord Elgin, is a patron and former Grand Master of the Keepers of the Quaich.
Having completed a short training with Remy Martin in their marketing department in Paris, Alex returned to Scotland to take up a position with Justerini & Brooks (J&B) in Edinburgh. 7 years understanding of fine wines and spirits, allied to parent company, Diageo’s extensive portfolio gave Alex an excellent grounding.
In 2002, Alex took on the challenge of starting a new wine venture in Edinburgh to expand Friarwood Fine Wines of London. Then, a call from the new owners of Adelphi Distillery in late 2004 completed the circle.
Alex is now Sales and Marketing Director for Adelphi, charged with expanding the company throughout the world, both in name and whisky, but never at the expense of its strict selection process.
